Safety

Safety on Bark Parks

Every booking connects two people who don't yet know each other. These guidelines exist to protect both sides and to set clear expectations for every visit.

Safety is a shared responsibility. Bark Parks verifies identities, protects addresses until payment, and provides in-app messaging, but the best protection is informed, prepared people on both ends.

๐Ÿ“

You only receive the full address after payment

The exact address is hidden until your booking is confirmed and paid. Never arrange to visit a space outside of the platform.

๐Ÿ“ฒ

Tell someone where you're going

Before every visit, let a friend or family member know the address, booking time, and when to expect you back. A quick message takes 10 seconds.

๐Ÿ•

Arrive and leave within your booked window

Your PIN only covers your booked session. Arriving early or staying late is not permitted. This protects both you and the host.

๐Ÿ’ฌ

Message the host before your visit

Use in-app messaging to confirm your arrival time and ask any questions about access. Never share your personal phone number directly.

๐Ÿš—

Trust your instincts on arrival

If something feels wrong when you arrive, whether the property doesn't match the listing, someone unexpected is there, or anything makes you uncomfortable, leave and contact us immediately.

๐Ÿ“ท

Document any concerns

If you notice damage, hazards, or anything that doesn't match the listing, take photos and report it through the app before starting your session.

For hosts

Guidelines for space owners listing on Bark Parks.

๐Ÿ”’

Keep your main home separate from the booking space

Guests should access only the booked area. Lock all other entrances and don't leave valuables visible from the space.

๐Ÿ‘€

Review the renter's profile before accepting

Check their verified status, booking history, and any reviews from other hosts. You can decline any booking you're not comfortable with. No explanation needed.

๐Ÿ“ฑ

Be contactable during the session

You don't need to be home, but make sure you can be reached by phone or in-app message during the booking window.

๐Ÿ˜

Let a neighbour or family member know

Inform someone you trust when you have a booking. Share the guest's name and session time so someone is aware.

๐Ÿšช

Change your access PIN regularly

Your PIN is generated fresh for each booking, but if you use a physical code lock, update it regularly and between bookings.

๐Ÿ“‹

Set clear house rules in your listing

Be explicit about what guests can and cannot access, parking, noise, and any specific requirements. Clear expectations prevent most issues.

In an emergency

If you feel threatened or unsafe at any point, leave immediately and call 10111 (SAPS) or 112 from any mobile.

Once you are safe, report the incident to Bark Parks at safety@barkparks.co.za. Include the booking ID, time, and any details you can share. We will take immediate action.
